Ok, well we made that up and as far as we know, it doesn’t exist. But, perhaps it should! In our humble, expert restoration opinions, sump pumps are the under sung heroes of household appliances.
We know sump pumps aren’t sexy, not even a little bit and we know why they’re hidden away in utility closets and in basements. We also know none of us thinks about them operating in our homes – that is until they stop working.
Here’s why you really must give this hard-working gadget some of your attention.
First let us ask you a question: How long have you been in your current home? Has it been 10, 15 or 20 years?
The average sump pump life is only 7 – 8 years! That’s the average which means some sump pumps won’t even last that long. If you’ve been in your house ten years or more and have never replaced your sump pump, you’re living on borrowed time.
Sump pumps are one of those things that we, in the industry, refer to as “It’s not a matter of if, it’s a matter of when” meaning sooner or later, a sump pump simply stop working.
Don’t get lulled into thinking it won’t happen to you, just talk to any of the millions of home owners who it has happened to. It is not fun, it is very messy and it may or may not be covered by insurance. Talk to your insurance agent who sold you the policy for details
Add this to your To-Do List, or your Honey-Do List, and get this taken care of before you get caught in a mess.
